Our daily sessions

We’re open 51 weeks of the year,

excluding Public Holidays and University closed days.

Our opening hours are designed to make life easy for you,

fitting childcare around your work and other commitments. You can choose for your child to be with us full time or part-time.

We have a car park, and we’re easy to get to by car or

by public transport. Check the map.

We’re open to everyone.

You can find The Oaks near the University of Birmingham’s Edgbaston campus – but you’re still very welcome if you don’t have a connection to the university.

Our rooms

Caterpillars Room and Garden

Babies to Sixteen Months

You’ll find three rooms and a garden in our baby area, and a warm, understanding team of staff. Your little one will find a calm nurturing environment here for sleeping. Activities are creative, fun and educational, bringing the outside inside, providing sensory experiences and lots of opportunities to get messy!

Butterflies Room

Under Twos

The spacious, colourful Butterfly room is a welcoming open-plan space with access to its own landscaped garden. With a climbing gym and the chance to grow their own organic vegetables, your child will enjoy exploratory physical play and fun creative activities, all supported by caring, friendly staff.

Bumblebees Room

Twos to Threes

The Bumblebee room is spacious, colourful and vibrant. Like all our rooms it has direct access its own garden, which allows your child to roam and explore, developing their independence in a safe and secure environment. Guided by the care and knowledge of our team, messy creative activities help your child develop their exploratory thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ladybirds Room

Twos to Threes

Your child will find this room just as inviting as the Bumblebee room, with its focus on friendship, fun and engaging in exciting creative activities together. In the garden your child will find more opportunities to grow their own fruit and vegetables at the garden station, encouraging them to think about healthy choices. The experienced, welcoming team will help them seek out bugs, plants and flowers, and to enjoy the digging pit and ‘mud kitchen’.

Pre-School

Threes to Fives

The Pre-School is an extremely spacious, free-flowing building with two rooms and its own large garden. Here your child will find their curiosity and imagination stimulated and supported every day by the approachable, caring staff, through creative, fun and educational activities. The Pre-School is in its own building, and you’ll find this carefully-planned change really helps to prepare your child for their eventual transition to school.

Dining

Healthy food and drink plays an essential role in your child’s development. Your child will be provided with morning and afternoon snacks and drinks, fresh fruit and water, and a nutritious hot lunch.

Ready to join the Oaks?

Before your child starts at The Oaks, we’ll arrange short ‘settling in’ sessions, to help them – and you! – become comfortable and familiar with the environment. And of course you’re welcome to ask us any questions, and to come in for a look around, before you make such an important choice.
